Quick and short. February 27, 2000. I have been a born-again believer for over five years. My life in Christ enabled me to live life with a purpose. For the first time, I am finally able to serve Jesus and be part of his family. But before I came to know the Lord, I would like to share with you my testimony. I was raised in a home where there is a lot of anger, bitterness, resentment and very little love. There is also physical, verbal and mental abuse. I was constantly surrounded with alcohol and gambling and was always taught that Buddhism is the way. I was to live my life as a monk and in doing so will appease my parents and hopefully win their love and affection.
Throughout my life I was taught to be good, be polite, to study hard and be a doctor or a pilot so that I can earn a lot of money. I was also taught to be prejudice against others. When I hit my teen years, I began to rebel against my parents. I started to hanging out with the wrong crowd. My way of being accepted into the group was to have the best looking car, to wear name brand clothing, and to have money to spend on girls. When I reached my sophomore years, mom and dad bought me a Honda Accord. This was the start of my recklessness. Before I knew it, I was racing on the streets. My friends and I even tried to start fights. Around that time, I totaled my car doing street racing. Mom and Dad stepped in and bought me another car. All I wanted to do is to race every car on the road. I lived my life on the fast lane. By the time college rolled around, I became very depressed. I fought with my dad constantly. I decided to stand up to him. I couldn?t take anymore of the verbal, physical and mental abuse he is doing to me, my mom, and my brother and sisters. I then resorted to drinking alcohol just so I could drink away my anger. There were days when I drove home intoxicated but never thought about the lives I put in danger.
My relationship with my father had grown apart. My dad never forgave me for choosing a different career path than what he had intended. Because of this, I refused to live a Buddhist life and became an atheist. My life took a turn for the worse, until a friend gave me a Bible and invited me to go to his church. Several years have passed. I met Christyn while working at CompUSA. We began dating and that?s how she told me about Jesus. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior on February 27, 2000. Christyn, who was my girlfriend back then, invited me to go to First Baptist Church Woodstock. During the service, Tony Nolan preached about ?Heaven and Hell.? He gave a testimony, which placed a conviction in my heart. After the service, Tony gave the invitation. I felt the Holy Spirit tug my heart and that?s when I decided to go down and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Jesus changed my life. I was a Buddhist, who lost his faith. I was a faithless wanderer who was found. Jesus stepped into my life, he lifted me up, touched my heart, forgave me, gave me a new life and made me his own.
